Tourism Impact Model, TIM, the comprehensive tool for modelling and optimisation of the tourism impact on a local ecosystem is being tested among selected municipalities across Slovenia. TIM combines a carrying capacity methodology with technological components including data from different sources to provide recommendations for a specific micro location that go well beyond the policies and are adjusted according to specifics of each micro location rather than being general. TIM can also provide tailored reports for a specific micro location that include the “traffic light” visualisation of their current state compared to the critical limit values (of the carrying capacity): green is displayed in areas that are under the predefined limiting values, yellow indicates an approaching warning and red appears when these values are above critical.
