The 3D-4CH (3D for Cultural Heritage) project is proud to announce the Winter School 2026, a three-day training event hosted at the Art & History Museum in Brussels. Organised in cooperation with the Twin it! Part II campaign — led by the EuropeanaFoundation and the European Commission — the event brings together cultural heritage professionals from across Europe to strengthen digital capacity, foster innovation, and build a collaborative network for the future of digital heritage.
A Unique Learning Experience for the Digital Heritage Sector
The 3D-4CH Winter School 2026 offers a transformative, three-day learning journey for cultural heritage professionals across Europe, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application in the field of 3D digitisation and digital heritage management.
Held at the Art & History Museum in Brussels, the event brings together experts, practitioners, and innovators in a dynamic environment designed to foster collaboration, skill development, and innovation. The programme is structured around three core pillars: knowledge transfer, hands-on training, and network building.
Participants will engage in a curated mix of:
-
Keynote lectures by leading specialists in 3D scanning, digital preservation, and data interoperability
-
Interactive workshops focused on real-world 3D digitisation workflows — from capture and processing to metadata creation and visualisation
-
Collaborative sessions that encourage peer-to-peer learning, idea exchange, and co-creation of future-oriented solutions
The training is designed to equip professionals from museums, archives, libraries, and heritage institutions with the tools and confidence to implement 3D technologies in their daily work — whether for small-scale digitisation projects, digital exhibitions, or large-scale heritage documentation.
Key learning outcomes include:
-
Understanding the full lifecycle of 3D digital heritage projects
-
Applying best practices in data quality, metadata standards, and file management
-
Exploring how 3D assets can enhance public access, education, and long-term preservation
-
Building connections with a growing European network of digital heritage practitioners
By bridging the gap between innovation and practice, the Winter School supports the European Commission’s vision for a digitally inclusive, sustainable, and accessible cultural heritage sector — one where technology empowers institutions to preserve the past, engage the public, and shape the future.

About the 3D-4CH Project
The 3D-4CH project is a European initiative focused on advancing the use of 3D technologies in cultural heritage through capacity building, knowledge sharing, and the development of open tools and standards. The project supports the European Commission’s vision for a digitally inclusive, accessible, and sustainable cultural heritage sector, aligning with key priorities of the European Green Deal, the Digital Europe Programme, and the EU’s Cultural Heritage Strategy.
Through the Online Competence Centre, 3D-4CH provides training, resources, and networking opportunities to professionals across Europe — ensuring that digital innovation is accessible, scalable, and inclusive. The platform serves as a central hub for best practices, toolkits, case studies, and collaborative learning, empowering museums, archives, libraries, and heritage institutions to adopt 3D digitisation in their work — from documentation and conservation to public engagement and education.
By fostering a pan-European network of practitioners and experts, 3D-4CH is helping to close the digital skills gap in the cultural sector and ensure that heritage institutions of all sizes can participate in the digital transformation of Europe’s cultural memory.
