The D3HUB (EU Competence Centre to Support Data Management in Tourism Destinations) consortium convened in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, for its latest partner meeting, hosted by Arctur and the Tourism 4.0 initiative.
The two-day event brought together experts from across Europe to share progress, strengthen collaboration, and accelerate the development of a robust, pan-European Competence Centre for tourism data management.
Building a Stronger Future for Smart Destinations
D3HUB is a European initiative co-funded by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), designed to empower smart destinations with the tools, knowledge, and capacity to manage data effectively — supporting smarter decision-making, digital transformation, and the green transition.
The meeting focused on:
-
Progress in developing training modules, toolkits, and digital resources
-
Strengthening the network of regional hubs and national partners
-
Aligning work across 14 partner institutions from 10 countries
-
Planning the rollout of pilot activities and capacity-building workshops
A Shared Vision for Data-Driven Tourism
The meeting reinforced the importance of building a trusted, accessible, and sustainable ecosystem for tourism data — one that supports:
-
Transparent and ethical data use
-
Interoperability across systems
-
Capacity building at local and regional levels
-
Integration with broader EU strategies on digitalisation and sustainability
As the project moves into its next phase, D3HUB will focus on pilot implementations, training delivery, and scaling impact across Europe.
