The Trusted European Media Data Space (TEMS) has launched its inaugural newsletter, marking a significant milestone in the European media sector. TEMS, a collaborative effort of 42 organizations from 12 countries, aims to create a resilient, data-driven ecosystem to revitalize the media industry. This initiative, co-funded by the European Commission, focuses on improving data management and fostering cooperation among media organizations to regain competitiveness in an AI-driven world.
The newsletter highlights the context and importance of data spaces, explaining how they enable trusted data sharing and innovative use cases. In 2024, TEMS will roll out eight trials addressing various themes, including fact-checked news content exchange, user data, personalized advertising, content syndication, and new distribution formats. These trials aim to demonstrate the potential of a federated data ecosystem in transforming the media landscape.
TEMS represents a flagship European initiative under the European Digital Strategy, with the goal of establishing a standardized, cross-border data space for the media industry. This project seeks to enhance collaboration, drive innovation, and create new opportunities in the cultural and creative sectors.
