Thrive
The THRIVE project will revitalize rural communities by preserving intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and fostering talent retention through creativity and digital transformation. Operating primarily in Bergamo, THRIVE will promote innovative strategies, digital tools, and entrepreneurial skills to support community resilience and address rural depopulation. With a collaborative approach involving five European countries, THRIVE will strengthen cultural and economic ties through shared learning and capacity-building activities. Following successful pilot initiatives, THRIVE aims to replicate this model across other European rural areas, ultimately enhancing the social cohesion and digital competitiveness of these communities while preserving their unique cultural identities.

about
the project
Project acronym: THRIVE
THRIVE is dedicated to revitalizing rural areas by preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage (ICH), such as local traditions, crafts, and customs. Through targeted training and digital tools, the project will empower rural communities to attract, cultivate, and retain talent, especially in creative sectors. THRIVE will addresse the urban-rural divide by focusing on digital transformation and innovation, making rural areas more appealing for both residents and potential newcomers.
With a pilot initiative in Bergamo, Italy, and collaborative support from partners in five EU countries, THRIVE will pioneer a model to cultivate sustainable economic and cultural resilience in rural communities. The project will encompass a comprehensive approach: it will include a participatory ICH mapping process, knowledge-sharing events, and training in digital and entrepreneurial skills tailored for rural residents, with a particular emphasis on marginalized groups. By enhancing the digital literacy of these communities and providing tools for cultural heritage preservation, THRIVE will not only safeguard unique local identities but also promote economic growth through creative and cultural tourism.
