
Damjan Vavpotič, Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana, Ljubica Knežević Cvelbar and Mojca Mayr, both from School of Economics, University of Ljubljana, have received the prestigious Thea Sinclair Award for Journal Article Excellence. The outstanding paper in Tourism Economics for the year is the Geographical mapping of visitor flow in tourism: A user-generated content approach. We congratulate researchers from members of the Tourism 4.0 Partnership on this achievement and their work on an innovative approach to measuring tourist flows.
The awarded article has been written as a part of the research project Guidelines for tourism destination management based on carrying capacity models and tourist flows. Authors have analysed multiple data sets shared by visitors on different tourist platforms and identified 31 groups of tourist flows between 188 destinations in the North East Adriatic region.
