The ID20 Institute, in collaboration with the Centre for Creativity at the Museum of Architecture and Design, is creating an event with the opportunity to explore Carinthia, or Košoka in Slovene – a traditional region in northern Slovenia.
Heritagehack is a competition in which competitors compete to solve a task in the shortest amount of time possible. This type of event has spread outside computer science and programming.
The Regional Museum of Koroška and the Tourist Mine and Museum Underground of Pecs are both participating this year, with the event being financially supported by The Centre for Creativity at the Museum of Architecture and Design. Carinthia's cultural heritage will be at the forefront of the event, with a focus on developing solutions for the former heritage of the lead and zinc mine in Meica and the ironworks on Ravne. Two locations that continue to use their rich stories to define their character.
This year's HeritageHack is searching for ideas that will display cultural heritage in an appealing way while also integrating it with the finest existing solutions in the field of sustainable and active tourism. An attractive exposition of sophisticated steelmaking processes and innovative products inspired by the rich legacy will also play an important role.
The event will take place entirely online, via the HOPIN platform, from June 3rd to 5th, with the preparations taking place earlier. Selected participants will therefore be given the challenge themes on Monday, 30th of May and will then have a few days to prepare for them. The opportunity to apply lasts till the 25th of May.
The event is appropriate for everyone who is creative and imaginative in their thinking and understands the value in maintaining and enhancing cultural heritage. A reward of 1,000 euros awaits the winning team. Second and third place teams will get practical rewards with a local touch of Carinthia.
