The 28th International Conference on Urban Planning and Regional Development in the Information Society (REAL CORP 2023) was held from September 18th to 20th, 2023, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The conference focused on the latest trends and challenges in urban planning and regional development, and aimed at addressing the complex challenges arising from our constantly growing world (around 8 billion people now, 9.7 billion to be expected by 2050) with ever-expanding cities and urban agglomerations.
One of the key themes of the conference was the importance of nature-based solutions for sustainable, resilient, smart, green, and blue cities. Nature-based solutions use the power of nature to address urban challenges such as climate change, air pollution, and water management. Some examples of nature-based solutions include green roofs, rainwater harvesting systems, and urban parks.
Dr. Urška Starc Peceny, CIO and lead of Tourism 4.0 at Arctur, was invited to the conference as a keynote speaker. In an era where technology meets nature, she focused on Data and Information Infrastructure and spoke about creating data-driven tourism planning.
The REAL CORP 2023 conference was a valuable opportunity for urban planners, regional developers, and other professionals to learn about the latest trends and challenges in their field, and to network with other professionals from around the world.
