Recognizing the significant efforts that companies invest in the implementation of ESG principles and standards, Vozim Na Struju company, with the support of the Municipality of Čajetina (Serbia), the Tourist Organization of Zlatibor, and the company Gold Gondola Zlatibor, organized the Eco Forum Zlatibor where Tourism 4.0 ideas inspired the participants.
Tomi Ilijaš, CEO of Arctur, held a keynote speech in which he presented the Tourism 4.0 mission to create sustainable tourism that builds around the local community's quality of life.
The Tourism 4.0 initiative ecosystem comprises many pillars, including award-winning Tourism Impact Model (TIM) digital tool.
TIM uses real data to create an objective picture of the impact of tourism in a certain micro-location. It analyses different societal aspects: from environment, economy and culture to collaboration. By modelling the impact with the use of different scenarios, it acts also as a digital twin of a tourist destination and allows data-driven strategic planning aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In preparation to the Eco Forum Zlatibor, the Municipality of Čajetina, assessed the positive and negative impacts of its tourism industry using selected parts of TIM, with the Tourist Organization of Zlatibor collecting and inputting the necessary sample data for the assessment. A special workshop on the smart use of data in tourism was organised for tourism stakeholders and led by Urška Starc Peceny, head of Tourism 4.0, where the TIM results were analysed.
Zlatibor is a destination with many possibilities for development and the visit was hopefully a good seed for many more activities to come and spread the spirit of sustainable tourism across Serbia.
