Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Slovenia received the ECTN award for the project of digital innovation of cultural heritage at the 14th European Conference in Athens with the overall theme: Regenerating European Tourism through Culture, Heritage and Creativity. The Ministry was awarded the second-best place in the category Digitalisation in Sustainable Cultural Tourism, towards Smart Destinations.
The digital innovation of cultural heritage in Slovenia included 31 tourist destinations. The goal was to enable the development of new, digitally enriched unique tourist products that are closely connected with the rich Slovenian cultural heritage. The open call determined that each applied lead destination has to digitise at least three units of immovable cultural heritage and to develop at least one five-star »Slovenia Unique Experience«.
