The outbreak of coronavirus affected tourism as well as the hospitality industry in devastating ways, resulting in drastic changes. For this reason, organisations are forced to find new ways to function in order to overcome the impacts of the crisis. University of Surrey hosted an online gathering focusing on Hospitality, Tech and Covid-19, where they organised a hackathon focused on the future of hospitality industry by discussing technological solutions to rebuild tourism after the pandemic.
Urška Starc Peceny (from 38:56 to 42:06) addressed the main challenges tourism ecosystem is facing and emphasised that innovative technologies are the right approach to combat the situation. Given the current situation, Tourism 4.0 joined forces with AIRTH to co-initiate #Tourismfromzero, an initiative supported by many universities and organisations throughout the world, with a purpose to provide a one-stop-shop for problems and solutions surrounding travel, tourism, hospitality, and leisure.
